Before The Interview:

The following techniques can help you make a good impression during a job interview.

1) Be on time.

2) Relax.  Think of the interview as a conversation.  Be positive, and show self-confidence.

3) When greeting the interviewer meet him/her with a smile and a firm handshake.

4) Do not sit until you are asked.

5) Do not slouch when sitting.

6) Maintain eye contact.

7) Listen very carefully to the interviewer.

8) Display your initiative by talking about the functions you could perform that could benefit the organization.

9) Avoid salary issues.

After The Interview:

The following techniques can help you make a good impression after a job interview.

1) If the interviewer doesn't bring up the paid salary for the position, ask by saying, "What is the salary range for this position"?

2) After the interview, shake the interviewer's hand and thank him/her for their time.

3) Reiterate your interest in the position/company.

4) Ask if you can call the interviewer in a few days to check on the status of your application.  If the interviewer offers to contact you, politely ask when you should expect their call.

5) Send a "Thank you for the interview" letter.  Be sure to send the letter before the hiring decision is made.

6) If you are not contacted within a week after the interviewer told you he/she would, give him/her a call.
